Willow Crest Trail Relocation, Swartswood State Park

We will be relocating a section of the Willow Crest Trail that has been flooded by a beaver dam. Meeting location: the Willow Crest Trail parking lot. (Driving directions are below). - To be determined. - Driving Directions. Willow Crest Trail parking lot. From Route 80, take exit 25, Route 206 North, to Newton (approx 12 miles). Follow Rt. 206 around the square and out the other side. At the first traffic light after the square, make a left onto Rt. 519 (Mill Street). Follow Rt. 519 approx 3/10 mile, then make a left onto Rt. 622 (Newton-Swartswood Road--there will be a Sussex County College sign on the right). Follow Rt. 622 for approx 5 1/3 miles to a T intersection with Rt. 521 (you will pass the signed turn-off to Swartswood State Park after about 4 ½ miles--we won’t be entering through the main entrance). Turn right onto Rt. 521 North, and in approximately 100 yards turn left onto Mt. Benevolence Road (the tiny Swartswood Post Office is across Rt. 521 from the turnoff). Follow Mt. Benevolence Road for almost exactly 2 miles. Turn right onto Hampton Road. In 6/10 mile, there is a dirt driveway on the right with a brown and white park sign that reads ‘Spring Brook Public Access Swartswood State Park.’ Turn into the driveway. In 100 yards it deadends into the parking area.
