Celebrate Earth Day by learning how to explore your favorite parks and trails responsibly!
The right path is always a responsible one. Preserving the integrity of our natural world not only sustains our trail lands, but it ensures enjoyable outdoor experiences for future generations.
Join the Trail Conference's Trail Steward Program Coordinator and Leave No Trace Master Educator, Myra Romano, and our friends from Hudson North Cider Company for an interactive Leave No Trace Awareness Workshop. Together we will learn how to prevent and minimize our impacts on the natural environment.
About the hike: Our Leave No Trace Awareness Workshop will take place along a flat, 2-mile loop at the Nyquist-Harcourt Wildlife Sanctuary in New Paltz, N.Y. Paths are grass or boardwalk, and because this is a flood plain forest, there may be mud or standing water.
After the hike: We will head into New Paltz to taste amazing ciders from our mission-driven partner, Hudson North Cider. This will be an opportunity to learn about their cider, mission and learn how our Stewardship department is working to combat an agricultural threat which can devastate orchards, whose crops are used to make the cider. Location will be provided in registration confirmation.
Parking: A short walk will take you to the Nyquist-Harcourt Wildlife Sanctuary.
