Wilderness First Aid course offered at the Welch Trail Education Center. Course fee required; overnight accommodations are available at no extra charge.

The Wilderness and Remote First Aid (WRFA) course includes 16 hours of instruction; presented as a two-day course taught from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.  Upon completion of the class, you will have earned the American Safety and Health Institute Wilderness First Aid certification. The certifying organization is the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) and is one of the only ones accredited with all states that recognize the ASHI Wilderness First Aid.

WRFA instruction provides the first aid principles and skills to respond to emergencies and to give care in areas without immediate emergency medical services (EMS).  This includes wilderness and remote environments, as well as urban environments experiencing natural or man-made disasters.  


This course is taking place at the Welch Trail Education Center in Harriman State Park. Overnight accommodations available.  Meals are not provided, however, a full kitchen is available for use. You must be 16 or over to participate in this course and be 18 or over for overnight accommodation.
